The FVMA’s Pet Hero Award is a part of the FVMA’s Pet Hall of Fame, which honors three categories of animal heroes: Hero, Companion and Professional.
A candidate for Hero classification is a pet that has unselfishly saved or preserved human life (non-professional).
A candidate for Companion classification is a pet that has provided a benefit and contributed to the quality of life of their human companions.
A candidate for Professional classification is an animal that is specially trained for handicapped individuals or used in law enforcement.
This award program was introduced in 1999 to honor the outstanding contributions our animal companions make to human lives. Nominations are solicited from FVMA Members. Recipients are selected by a committee chosen by the FVMA Foundation.
